Things We Are Not Challlenge

I can't update my Twitter stream again. So, from my paltry blog here that gets very little traffic I will issue this challenge, regarding the Things We Are Not anthology

I just contacted the Dallas Voice, the premier media source for LGBT Texas, about the anthology. Of course I think I was pretty heart-felt in my email, but we'll see. I guess it depends on how busy the news day is among a million other factors. I've also contacted bloggers and other zines who do reviews and speak to related concerns. I know at least one of the included stories has Lovecraftian elements, and one of the other magazines I contacted on that basis.

So, here's my challenge: If you are connected is some way to the anthology, or if you think success of small SF zines and athologies is a good thing, or you like the idea of under-represented groups getting some prime billing in an anthology... Show your support. Leave a post here or contact Mr. Fletcher to offer a review. Contact someone who might do the same.

Blog it, Facebook it, Twitter it, whatever you can think of... here is something worthwhile. We give so much attention to the myriad 'FAILS' (and I am calling myself out here, make no mistake)... Here is a chance to raise up some 'WIN'.

Take care,

B

  1. Thanks for posting this. Some other writers who have stories in the book have been getting word out on their sites as well, which will help a lot. Also, I think this is a great idea that you have to pro-actively contact some other media sites that may be interested. It can't hurt. I might not be able to spring for a lot of PRINT review copies (unless the sponsorship drive goes REALLY well), but I will supply no problem electronic ARCs to certain sources who may (hopefully) give us good press.

  2. no problem, I understand completely. If there is a big response from reviewers who need print copies, esp anyone I send over, let me know and I will kick in for their copies.

  3. Excellent, I'll see what I can do/see who'd be interested in doing reviews, etc. :)
