Here's a nice explication of the question "What are Beneath Ceaseless Sky's Elvis, Beatles, and Stones of the traditional fantasy/ adventure fantasy genre" from the BCS forum as expressed by Editor-in-chief, Scott H. Andrews.
I am finishing my post-failed singularity/ Lovecraft deconstruction story that also happens to be a response to one of the OWW monthly challenges (write the same scene from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person POV... though I deviate a bit from that mandate)...
Then I want to write a Big Mysterious Object story that's been bouncing around in my head....
Then I have a straight 'Stephen King'-ish horror take on Waiting for Godot. This is the second take on that story that I'll have done. The first is off to Interfictions with crossed fingers...
And by THEN I hope my idea for a BCS story will have gelled. :)
So far I have a character, I'm not sure of his given name but he comes to be known as Geshe Rakshasa. He is a follower of a buddha born into my 2nd world setting, but after an attack on his person, he starts to see that the people of his land are more occluded than they understood or suspected. As for the world, I am thinking of having a society of tol and men going native in Sukhavati, my world for Los Lobos Ninos and the City of Doors, thereby removing all knowledge of the modern world. But, we'll see. And I know there are maybe a dozen other critters from OWW for whom these comments will actually make sense, but oh well.
So far I have written several stories that mention or feature the white city, or the One City, of LLN, or some that make mention of the Garden at its center. I like the idea of building upon the world on the other side of that 'farcaster'-connected city, where it makes sense that some of the inhabitants will have lived lives beyond the knowledge of the tech singularity that led to the City and subsequently to the world called Sukhavati.
Take care,
BB
Good luck with 'Beneath Ceaseless Skies'. I have something out with them at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Catherine. You too. :)
